Local Japanese Kigo (chiboo kigo)
地貌(ちぼう)季語, 地貌季語

Collecting regional kigo, sometimes even in dialect, from rural areas of Japan.
Natural phenomenon are included, and more interesting, the local festivals, food and other necessities of the daily life.

BOO, kao 土地の貌(かお), the real face of the region.

This is a movement dating back to
Maeda Fura 前田普羅.
see below.

In our times, the poet Miyasaka Shizuo 宮坂静生 collects these kigo and has produced a book about them. His home base is Matsumoto

語りかける季語ゆるやかな日本
Katarikakeru kigo
yuruyaka na nihon

Published in 2006

It contains words like
おしら遊び,つるし雛,うりずん,蝦夷梅雨,青味返り,いぶりがっこ,
小夏日和
Arranged in the five seasons and seven categories.
With one sample haiku and a page of explanation.
A real treasure of local lore and customs.

With the ageing population and young people leaving the countryside, this is also an effort to bring back life to the rural communities, by writing about their beauty and traditional ways of life.

With his "mountain haiku" groups "Take Haiku Kai" 俳句会 he collects kigo from all areas of Japan.
